In this hyper sensorial participatory art experience series - Modulation, Taiwanese Ceramic Artist, Yiijon’s, artwork serves as a mirror to the dynamic nature of human connection. Much like tuning a radio frequency, we embrace the unknown and experimental, allowing for constant evolution and growth. Together with multi-discinplinary artist Lee Wei Lieh, they collaborate to modulate each other’s art work, deepening the exploration between self-discovery, environment, and human relationships through their art.
House of VSE hosted 3 thematic live art creation experiences where participants, with Yiijon‘s intervention, shaped their ceramic creations in different locations echoing theirs and Singapore's vibrancy. The climax of the cumulative process was presented at the Modulation: Amalgamation exhibition.

Modulation: Amalgamation
Join us for a transformative three-day exhibition where art and innovation converge. Witness the evolving modulations from Yiijon, explore collaborative artwork with Wei, and see participant-created pieces come to life. Engage directly in the art-making process with hands-on claywork modulation throughout the exhibition. Additionally, Wei will unveil a groundbreaking light innovation, adding a new dimension to our artistic journey.
Modulation between Two International Artists
The stark difference in artistic approaches and medium used between both Singaporean Multi-disciplinary Artist Lee Wei Lieh and Taiwanese Ceramic Artist Yiijon, serve as perfect juxtapositions in this artistic exploration, where each artist will interpret and intervene the other’s artistic concept.
How would Wei, whose work often focused on capturing the beautiful existence of spaces and and objects that are often forgotten or taken for granted by general public, interpret the topic of complexity of human relationships and expressions that Jon tends to portray in his work.

Artistic Modulation between Participants & Artist
Participants of all skill levels are welcome to sign up for any of the three ticketed live art experiences, each incorporating ceramic workshops curated for its unique theme. These workshops, conducted by Yiijon in small groups, encouraged participants to explore the integration of Food X Art, Nature X Art, and History X Art with Yiijon’s style of clay art making.
At the end of each two-hour workshop, Yiijon took back all the clay works created by participants and continue to refine them as he sees fit. The final outcomes were then showcased at a three-day exhibition, alongside the artworks created by Yiijon and Wei for Modulation.

Meet the Artists
Yiijon
Yiijon is a Taiwanese ceramic artist based in Taipei, whose works have been exhibited in the Czech Republic, Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. His sculptures explore the relationship between individuals and society, capturing moments of temporary detachment in urban environments, the nuances of intimacy, and the humorous and strange postures of daily life.
Using porcelain clay for its softness and irregularities, Yiijon pinches the clay directly with his hands to create uncertain and ambiguous shapes. His sculptures convey feelings of solitude, intimacy, and humor within relationships.
Yiijon is also the founder of Slow Flow Pottery in Taiwan, where he conducts pottery workshops and sells unique handmade porcelain pieces for everyday use.
Lee Wei Lieh
Principal Artist, curator and co-founder of House of VSE (short for Very Small Exhibition), Wei is best known for his public light art interventions.
Very Small Exhibition started as an experimental exhibition / installation / project space in 2013, with the intention to give designers/artists a platform to experiment / showcase their work and hopefully bring a smile, curiosity or even wtf-ness to anyone walking past the work. After losing the project space in 2015, Very Small Exhibition has been run solely by Singaporean artist Wei, known for his Very Momentary Exhibition work in Singapore. He has collaborated on projects for Singapore Night Festivals, i Light Singapore, Singapore Grand Prix, and other projects in Singapore, Prague and New York.
